Hetch Hetchy Water and Power reported on March 17 as follows:

Recreationalists

On Thursday, March 25, HHWP will be performing some required valve operations at Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. This will result in elevated flows on the Tuolumne River from Wednesday through Friday. We are performing this work early in the runoff season for environmental reasons - minimizing disturbance to frog eggs later in the season.

Wednesday, March 24: Hetch Hetchy Reservoir releases will rise from 60 cfs to 300 cfs over the course of the day, and remain at 300 cfs overnight.

Thursday, March 25: Hetch Hetchy Reservoir releases will rise from 300 cfs to 1000 cfs between 0600 and 0900, remain at ~ 1000 cfs from 0900 to 1400, then ramp back down to 300 cfs in the late afternoon. Flows will remain at 300 cfs overnight.

Friday, March 26: Hetch Hetchy Reservoir releases will drop from 300 cfs to 60 cfs over the course of the day.

HPH releases are expected to follow the current pattern - <100 cfs during the day, and ~900 cfs from 4 PM through 1 AM.

We may see spill from Lake Eleanor – it will depend on the weather tomorrow and snowmelt next week. Lake Eleanor spill could reach 200 cfs.

Any significant changes to the schedule will be posted on the bulletin board.
