Good afternoon,
Below are planned releases from HHWP facilities through June 26.
For permitting and access information contact the Groveland Ranger District.
We strive to keep the user community updated on projected flows on the Tuolumne River.
Flows will continue to transition into normal recreational releases this weekend. Variable spill from Hetch Hetchy Reservoir may produce modest rises.
Stated flow rates are best estimates and are subject to change as conditions and operational constraints evolve.
Hetch Hetchy Reservoir
- Valve releases below Hetch Hetchy are approximately 125 cfs
- Reservoir spill has been delayed due to cool weather conditions
- Spill possible by late in the weekend
- Spill rates of 100-350 cfs (in addition to valves), depending on natural reservoir inflows
- Kirkwood Powerhouse
- Zero spill
- Notifications will be provided if Kirkwood spill resumes
Cherry Reservoir
- Valve releases below Cherry Reservoir are at 5 cfs, increasing to 15 cfs on June 30
- Weekdays
- 00:00-07:00: ~30 cfs
- 07:00-11:00: ~950 cfs (recreational release)
- 11:00-16:00: ~30 cfs
- 16:00-24:00: ~240-300 cfs
- Weekends:
- 00:00-07:00: ~30 cfs
- 07:00-11:00: ~950 cfs (recreational release)
- 11:00-24:00: ~30 cfs
- Note: Wednesday June 26 will be utilized as a ‘No Water Wednesday’ to allow for an operational maintenance window at Holm
- Flows below Holm are expected to be very low (25-50 cfs) during daytime hours
Lake Eleanor
- Valve releases below Eleanor are at approximately 20 cfs

Meral’s Pool (best estimates, actual flows may differ)
- Flows of approx. 1,100-1,250 cfs expected between approx. 10:00-13:00 (normal recreational release timing)
- Flows will be much lower (250-500 cfs) outside these hours
- Modestly higher flows on weekday evenings/overnights (500-800 cfs range)
- Note that flows may be modestly higher overall once Hetch Hetchy Reservoir spillway discharge is underway
