February 23, 2019. 2800 cfs. At the end of the Cache Creek Wilderness Run, just upstream of the final rapid (Mad Mike), perhaps a half mile upstream of where Bear Creek joins the mainstem, there is a tree in the middle of the channel, right at the end of a Class III rapids. The tree may not be visible from the top of the rapids. Safest is to run the far left side, although there is not much room. There is a tree branch sticking out from shore at the end of the rapids on the left, which knocked one of our party over. Cut right after passing the tree in the main channel. This is an upright tree with high potential for entrapping a swimmer or boat.

This strainer is gone but there are 3 new ones in the first few miles.
