| Dear private boating/kayaking community,
The New Year's Eve flood did a tremendous amount of damage to the shoreline and infrastructure at American River Resort, river left of Trouble Maker rapid on the Chili Bar Section of the South Fork American River. As part of the ongoing repair, owner Arnie Chandola has generously built a set of steps that lead from a small beach on river left above the rapid to the campground road for those wishing to portage or scout. It is Arnie's request that all private boaters portaging use the road all the way down to the large launch area that will be marked with signs. Those scouting can still use the trail that follows the rocky path for best vantage points. American River Resort is working with the County to improve the scouting trail. As always, please respect the privacy of campers and America River Resort guests by staying on the road.
