Whataroa River, New Zealand

This is the second of two beautiful schist mini-gorges near the end of our run on the Whataroa.  It was so peaceful after all the action above, and quiet - the only sounds were the dipping of paddle blades, and a bellbird marking its territory.  We were spellbound.  - Photo: Pam Esmon
