| HELP STOP THE AUBURN DAM!
PLEASE WRITE TO SENATOR FEINSTEIN
The House of Representatives has just approved an appropriation to conduct a $30 million or more study of the Auburn Dam. Representative Doolittle plans to stick the local cost share for this expensive and useless study on Sacramento area taxpayers. Now the fight moves to the Senate.
Senator Dianne Feinstein sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, so she is well placed to kill this boondoggle. She has also stated her opposition to the Auburn Dam in the past.
Please send an email TODAY to Senator Feinstein urging her to kill the Auburn Dam study appropriation in the Senate and to do everything she can to block its consideration in a House/Senate conference committee. Be sure to remind Senator Feinstein that the Auburn Dam is TOO EXPENSIVE, TOO RISKY, AND TOO DESTRUCTIVE, and it's completely unfair to force Sacramento taxpayers to share the cost for a study they do not support, and for a flood control project that Sacramento does not need.

| It is scary!! I have been following this too, especially since Doesnothing started messing around with Homewood Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe. [rant]Exactly what we need is another motor boat filled reservoir surrounded by million dollar homes and parking lots. Hopefully, Doolittle will be in jail before any of this can come to fruition. Get a Cluelittle!![/rant] It appears that this will take so long we don't have to activate yet. That is wrong. The time is now because the government will send good money after bad. The more they spend the more pressure there will be to spend more. After all, where will the kids from sacto do this?
I suggest as a start we get together a photo gallery/slideshow/powerpoint type thingy showing what will be taken away to present to Senator Feinstein and publish online for general support. I do have many ideas in this regard that could greatly benefit from a bit of local knowledge.

| I have added a map showing what will be gone. I think it helps to give people an appreciation. It was based on an 1100 foot surface elevation of the reservoir. The dam is expecteded to top out at 1200. Additionally, I have created a banner which rotates throughout the site, but can always be seen on the beaches page. I will be refining it later, but if anyone else wants to use it (or would like me to make another specifically for their site), just let me know. Court court@aboutlaketahoe.com
