In the tables that follow, each date is color-coded according to the kind of release scheduled for that day:

ColorMeaning
No scheduled release planned for this day.
Scheduled release: Less than 750 cfs total estimated releases from the HHWP project.
Scheduled release: 1100 cfs or more total estimated releases from the HHWP project.
NOTE: The following flows are the minimum scheduled releases that you can expect - actual flows may be higher.  See the notes at the bottom of this page.

Water Management and Access Issues:

1.  Flow rate estimates and timing are at the confluence of the Tuolumne River and Cherry Creek.  It is assumed that it takes approximately two hours for water to travel from the confluence to Meral’s Pool (a.k.a. Lumsden Boat Launch).

2.  Flow at the confluence is a combination of power house releases and other streamflow releases.  Unless otherwise noted, expect most of the flow to come down Cherry Creek, i.e. from Holm Powerhouse.

3.  This is a high water year, so expect the other streamflows releases referred to in the previous item to be significant, particularly during June.  Before heading out, be sure to check the relevant Dreamflows flow report and Bulletin Board thread to determine current and expected release trends.

4.  Note that the scheduled releases from August 5 on will be 700 cfs, not 1100 cfs.  This is because only one Holm Powerhouse generating unit will be in operation during this time (HHWP have a big construction project at Holm that will greatly improve the reliability of the powerhouse units.  This will require taking out one unit at a time from August through next February).

5.  Flows beyond the schedule outlined above are at HHWP’s operational discretion.

6.  Users should be aware that sudden changes in powerhouse or dam releases may occur at any time due to emergency mechanical or electrical conditions.  Scheduled or unplanned rapid changes in water levels and flow rates can create hazards, and users are urged to use caution and to wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
