| On 5-29-17 there was a log across most of the channel about 1/3 mile downstream from the first Hwy 3 Bridge below Bear Creek Rapid. A cedar tree has fallen from the left bank. At our flow of approx 1250 cfs on the USGS gauge near take-out the tree spans about 80% of the runnable channel. It was possible to skirt far right around the tip of the tree, but as flows drop this sneak route will shrink. The tree is at the bottom end of a long Class II+ rapid and it is tough to stop or find eddies once you're committed to the rapid. The log is not visible from the highway.
