There is a new tree in the left side of the entry to the 420 gorge (above split falls). After running 420 rapid and before split falls is a class III entry rapid where you can stay in the main flow or swing left into a side channel. The tree is in the main flow of the left side channel and you can't see it until you are already committed.

I would not say it is a death hazard, and once in the left channel it can be avoided by scrambling right, but until it is gone, I would recommend taking the main (right) channel
