Since 2001, as a member of the Ecological Resource Committee which is tasked with implementing PG&E's hydropower project license, American Whitewater annually coordinates recreational releases on the CA Wild & Scenic Mokelumne River. This includes flows for all boating levels on Devil's Nose (Cls V), Tiger Creek (Cls IV), and Electra (Cls II-III). Here are the details of the 2024 recreational release schedule.

Mokelumne Devil's Nose

Release Dates: May 4 & 5
PG&E will target 900 CFS from 10 am to 12 pm. Keep in mind the compliance gauge is immediately below Salt Springs Dam which means you can expect flows to be higher from accretion at the bottom of the reach. The American Whitewater Devil's Nose river page provides gauge information at the bottom of this reach just below the crux rapid - Mokelumne Falls.

NF Mokelumne Tiger Creek

Release Dates: May 4, 5, 18, 19, 25 June 1, 2, and tentatively July 4
PG&E will target 900 CFS from 10am – 2pm. As of recent reports all roads to access Tiger Creek will be open and paddlers can expect the Bureau of Land Management to be on-site.

Mokelumne Electra

Release Dates: May 4, 5, 25, 26, & 27 June 1, 2, 8, 9, 22, & 29 July 6, 13, 20, & 27
PG&E will target 700 cfs from 10am – 4pm and there will be many opportunities to catch the Electra run.

All flows are listed on the American Whitewater Release Calendar..

PG&E has confirmed the last recreational release for Tiger Creek will happen this Saturday June 29th from 10 am to 2 pm. The forecasted flows will be between 700 - 850 cfs. Enjoy!
Posted: Jun 27, 2024Post Subject: Rec Flows Delay Saturday June 29 - Extra Day on Sunday June 30
UPDATE 6/27/24
PG&E has informed American Whitewater that they may not be able to provide the full timely flow of 700 CFS at 10 AM for this Saturday's Tiger Creek Release. PG&E forecast flows could only be 500 cfs by noon. However, as mitigation for the delay in Saturday Flows - American Whitewater negotiated continued rec flows of 700 cfs for SUNDAY. So if you are heading out on Saturday be sure to check the flow on the river gauge, otherwise ENJOY the extra day!
