There is a huge (old growth?) tree spanning the river one mile upstream of the Jackson Creek confluence. It is at the bottom of a 50-yard long busy class II rapid. At 1200 on the gauge at Tiller, you can limbo on the far right in the eddy. However, at higher flows (1800 and up?) this will be a major hazard and a mando portage. You will see it coming, but the eddy just above it and just after the busy water may not be an option at higher flows, so BE CAREFUL!

I saw two bald eagles and some big old dead salmon on the run yesterday. If you run bike shuttle, be careful of the dog at the ramshackle on the right just before Jackson Creek Road (across from the store). It is big and mean, but not very fast
