Feb. 1st At 8:00 A.M. In Gasquet Sunrise: 7:28 A.M. Sunset: 5:29 P.M. The Air Temperature Was 36 Degrees! The Water Temperature At The “N.F. Confluence” Was 44 Degrees! The Gauge (On The Big Pipes) At The Water Treatment Plant, At The Confluence Of The North Fork, And The Middle Fork Of The Smith River Was At (13 Feet 4 Inches) (The River Is At A Good Level For Rafting & Kayaking Today!) (See The Dreamflows Daily Flows Graph!) The River Rose Incredibly And Then Dropped Again! From Yesterday At 8:00 A.M. To 8:00 A.M. Today And It Is Now (1 Foot 3 Inches) Higher Than It Was At 8:00 A.M. Yesterday And There Was 1.92 Inches Of Precipitation! From 8:00 A.M. Yesterday To 8:00 A.M. Today! Today: Chance Of Precipitation Is 70%. And There Is A 50% Chance Of Precipitation Expected Tonight! Hazardous Weather Outlook! Wet Weather With Low Snow Levels, Will Continue Through The Weekend As Additional Storms Move Across The Region! (According To The NOAA Report) At http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ So With More Precipitation Today, And Tonight, And Melting Snow! The River Will Probably Rise Some More Today, And Tonight! And The River Will Be At A Good Level For Boating Tomorrow!
THE ROAD TO THE N. F. IS CLOSED! DUE TO DEEP SNOW!
I Tried To Get The Road Open Again Yesterday Afternoon To The North Fork Put In Up Gasquet Mountain! But Even With My Four Wheel Drive Truck And Heavy Duty Snow Tires And Chains! I Was Not Able To Make It Even ¼ The Of The Way To The N. F. Put In! Although I Made It About A Quarter Of A Mile Further Than The Day Before! Then I Drove Around And Went Up Low Divide And Made It About A Half Mile Past Where The Gasquet Mountain Road Intersects With High Divide, Where I Got Stuck! On A Very Steep Section Of Road In 23 Inches Of Snow Making The First Tracks, In increasingly Deepening Snow, And I Blew Out My Motor! Trying To Get Myself Unstuck In The Snow! And I Still Had Over A Mile To Go To Get To The Approximate ½ Way Point Overlook! Then I Limped My Truck Back Out And Coasted Down Rowdy Creek Road To The Little Town Of Smith River, & Called A Tow Truck To Tow Me To Crescent City! Where I Will Have A Brand New Motor Installed In My Truck! So Unless Somebody Else Tries To Get The Road Open In The Next Couple Of Weeks (Until I Get A Brand New Motor Installed) We Will All Just Have To Wait Until Over 2 Feet Of Snow Melts! (And There Is More Snow On Its Way!) To Get To The N.F. Put In. And Until My Truck Is Fixed! I Will Have To Find Another Way To Get To The N.F. Gauge! To Do My Morning Report Every Morning! The River May Be At A Good Level For Boating Again Tomorrow! Depending On The Amount And Temperature Of The Rain We Get! If The 2 Foot Plus Deep Snow Melts Substantially The River Will Rise Dramatically Like It Did Two Days Ago & Could Be At A High Level! (See The Dreamflows Daily Flows Graph!) AND THE ROAD TO THE N. F. IS CLOSED! DUE TO DEEP SNOW! (For The Full Story! Read The End Of Yesterdays Report Above!) (Shuttle Provider) Bearfoot Brad

The River May Not Drop Much & May Still Be At A High Level Tomorrow! THE ROAD TO THE N. F. IS CLOSED! DUE TO DEEP SNOW! (Read The End Of My Friday February 1st Report For The Details!)
