| The Chili Bar property is apparently for sale, and the owners have closed access to the upper parking lot. The lower parking lot is closed during winter anyway, due to fears of flood damage to cars parked there. The bottom line is that parking at the Chili Bar put-in is therefore severely limited.
Note that there is public access to the Chili Bar put-in year-round - in other words, boaters are allowed to carry the boats down the access road to Chili Bar beach and launch. So you can put in at Chili Bar - you just can't park there. There is limited parking up the road on Hwy-193, but be aware that there'll probably be fierce competition for it.

|
|
| Alan Ehrgott, Executive Director of the American River Conservancy, reports as follows:
"I spoke with Dick DeChant (the owner of Chili Bar) and Dick graciously agreed to allow boaters to informally park in the upper parking lot. He closed access in an effort to reduce trash dumping and vandalism.
The Conservancy will open the lower parking lot when this season's flood damage is repaired. In the meantime, there is currently a cable/chain at the entrance to the upper parking lot. However it isn't locked, and you may open it and park (informally) in the upper lot. Please re-hang the cable after you have parked, and please pay the day-use fee (steel post) and place the tear-off receipt on your dash. Dick is a boater and is on the boater's side, as long as the rules are followed ..."
