|
| Hey Chris, I see the schedule you have listed for Chili Bar has releases on Sunday lasting until 1pm and it seems that every Sunday they have been keeping consistent with that schedule. This past Sunday 8/10/14 they shut the water off at noon so just wanted to inquire if they changed the ending time for release schedule on Sunday from 1pm to noon? It looks like per your schedule that the 1pm releases should last through August. Thanks!!

| Hey Brad,
Thanks for reporting this ... have confirmed that releases were for less than the advertised times not just yesterday but a couple other times recently as well. Have contacted the appropriate folks and will report back when they respond.
Cheers

| The question of why weekend releases are sometimes shorter than expected went up the line to SMUD, and they assure us that while the FERC license is not yet final, it is SMUD’s intention to provide the recreational flow requirements that are in the license.
Put differently, SMUD's intention is to follow the published schedule. One of the reasons they initiated this effort was to identify holes in their process prior to the release of the license. Well, Brad has helped highlight an issue, thank you, and as a result SMUD is currently working with PG&E to improve the process.
Footnote: SMUD and PG&E are under no obligation to provide these recreational releases until the license goes into effect, and doing so anyway is pretty darned generous of them ...

| SMUD writes today as follows:
"I just wanted to let you know that SMUD intends to provide the flows required for rafting this weekend. As you are probably well aware, the King Fire is one that has spread quickly and is still only 5% contained. Operations at the UARP have been impacted by the fire, and if the fire continues to spread, it is possible that equipment malfunctions or safety issues might arise which could prevent SMUD from providing the recreational flows.
I will update you should conditions change, but as of now, SMUD's intent is to provide the flows."
