Temporary Lane closures due to Wildfire burning Near Chief Parrish.
According to 511.idaho.gov (the Idaho Transportation Department website) on the evening of September 5, 2007:
" SH 55 in both directions: from after The North Horseshoe Bend City Limits to before Garden Valley Road
wildfire, roadway reduced to one lane, long delays -- pilot car in operation. Expect 30 - minute delays.
Comment: Pilot cars will guide motorists through the fire area located from Milepost 72 to Milepost 78 between Horseshoe Bend and Banks

The lastest from 9/7/07 on Hwy 55 and the fire according to 511.idaho.gov:
"SH 55: from after The North Horseshoe Bend City Limits to before Garden Valley Road
potential road closure
Comment: Hwy 55 will be reduced to one lane traffic with pilot cars guiding vehicles through the fire area, located from Milepost 74 to Milepost 78. This will take place starting at 12:00 PM today. Highway 55 will close to all traffic from Milepost 65 to Milepost 79 at 5:00 PM this evening as fire crews conduct a back burn near the highway. This closure should last for approximately 4 hours with the road re-opening around 9:00 PM this evening. Both the lane reduction and the closure are located between Horseshoe Bend and Banks.

Due to high winds, additional closures on 55 are expected. Wildfire is ~ 45% contained...
