| Jan. 31st At 8:00 A.M. In Gasquet Sunrise: 7:29 A.M. Sunset: 5:27 P.M. The Air Temperature Was 46 Degrees! The Water Temperature At The “N.F. Confluence” Was 43 Degrees! The Gauge (On The Big Pipes) At The Water Treatment Plant, At The Confluence Of The North Fork, And The Middle Fork Of The Smith River Was At (12 Feet) (The River Is At A Good Level For Rafting & Kayaking Today!) (See The Dreamflows Daily Flows Graph!) The River Rose 2 Feet 1 Inch! From Yesterday At 8:00 A.M. To 8:00 A.M. Today And There Was 1.91 Inches Of Precipitation! From 8:00 A.M. Yesterday To 8:00 A.M. Today! Today: Periods Of Rain Before 10am, Then Occasional Snow Showers. Chance Of Precipitation Is 100%. And There Is An 80% Chance Of Precipitation Expected Tonight! Estimated Snow Amounts Of 1 To 2 Inches Have Fallen Early This Morning. And Another 5 To 6 Inches Is Expected Across The Warning Area Above 2000 Feet Trough This Evening Before Snow Showers Begin To Taper Off With An Additional Accumulation Of Up To 2 Inches Possible Before Midnight... Making Total Accumulations Above 2000 Feet 8 To 10 Inches By Midnight. (According To The NOAA Report) At http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ So With More Precipitation Today, And Tonight, And Melting Snow! The River Will Probably Rise Some More Today, And Tonight! And The River Will Be At A Very Good Level For Boating Tomorrow!
BUT THE ROAD IS CLOSED NOW! DUE TO DEEP ICY SNOW!
I Tried To Get The Road Open Yesterday Afternoon To The North Fork Put In! But Even With My Four Wheel Drive Truck And Heavy Duty Snow Tires And Chains! I Was Not Able To Make It Even ¼ The Of The Way To The North Fork Put In! The Snow On The Ridge Had Melted And Then Frozen Over And It Was Well Over A Foot Deep! I Made It There Tuesday In Twice As Much Snow As There Was Yesterday! But It Was A Drier More Powdery Type Of Snow Than It Was Yesterday! The Rain And Freezing Temperatures Compacted The Snow And Froze It Into Over A Foot Of Virtual Ice! Which I Was Unable To Drive Through! I Will Try Again Today! To Get The Road Open To The N. F. Put In! (Shuttle Provider) Bearfoot Brad
