| Please remember that our access to this run and the scheduled whitewater releases for the Pit River rely on the goodwill of the local community, and that our actions as boaters could easily jeopardize both the restored flows we’ve come to enjoy and our access to this precious resource. With that in mind, American Whitewater needs your help to spread the word - please respect private property at all times.
We have received complaints from landowners about paddlers during past releases both accessing the river through private property, littering and relieving themselves on private property within view of the property owners! These are the types of actions that put our access and flows at risk. Please don’t let it be you!
The Pit River through this reach travels through both private and American Indian Tribal Lands. All scouting and portaging should be done in the river channel, BELOW the high water mark and access should only occur through designated public access locations.
All paddlers need to use the put-in at the PG&E river access facility at the bridge in Fall River Mills. Note there is no access at Big Eddy Estates which crosses a private easement. Also, please use the bathroom facilities located at the put-in and the BLM campsite. And finally a reminder to pack it in & pack it out! Thank you!
