The Patterson Bend gauge on the San Joaquin River which also determines the Horseshoe Bend estimates, is way wacky right now. There probably were some flows in this reach during the big storm starting Jan. 1, but inflows to Millerton are low again, indicating that there is not likely any boatable flows in Patterson or Horseshoe Bends. I am trying to contact PG&E to see if they know what is going on with the Patterson gauge and whether it might get fixed.

Just talked with PG&E. They explained that actual flows might be that wacky, due to overcompensation of the gates, and the amount of debri coming down the river. Also the flow of 900 cfs is presently accurate as the big powerhouse is unable to operate due to downed powerlines.
However this does mean that Horseshoe bend does not have the flows reported by dreamflows right now. The flows reported during the peak of the storm probably were fairly accurate.
