The Idaho Statesman is reporting that the Forest Service has suspended river launches until at least Thursday July 27th while they try to clear a log jam near Lake Creek which is above Pistol Creek Rapid. The log jam was caused by a washout due to a brief period of high rain.
You can read the story & see pictures of the jam at: http://www.idahostatesman.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060726/IDOUT/607260343

Reported at 3:03 PM (Mountain time) on: http://idahostatesman.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage
"U.S. Forest Service crews blasted the logjam on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River at about 12:30 p.m. today. After the blast, crews continued working with ropes and hand tools trying to get the remaining logs out. Rafts were not going to be allowed through Pistol Creek Rapids until Thursday. The Forest Services was going to run the river from Pistol Creek to Indian Creek to make sure the path is clear before allowing rafters through. "
Don't know how long that blurb will stay since the link takes you to the report from this morning...
