American Whitewater is happy to confirm good news for recreational opportunities on Pit 1! The 4 days of whitewater releases required by Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) hydropower license will occur as planned on the weekends of October 2nd & 3rd and the 16th & 17th (approximately 900 cfs depending on inflow). In addition, Pit 1 Powerhouse outages will provide whitewater opportunities from October 1st through October 8th. And again, from October 15th through April 2022. Yes, you read that right PG&E has forecasted 6 months of boatable flows on Pit 1 so watch the gauges and enjoy accordingly!
