Scientific research activity by Desert Research Institute is in progress on the Truckee R between Farad, NV and Verdi, CA. Boaters should be aware of posts driven in the channel that mark locations of sensors in the river bed. The 0.2 mile long research section is located 2 mile downstream from Farad Power Plant, 0.25 mi below the railroad trestle and 0.25 mi above the diversion dam for the Fleish Hydro Plant. Beware of this potential hazard reported by a research team near the state line. Hardshells should be able to float around these obstructions, though depending on flows, rafts may need to make a short portage around the area:

The posts shouldn't be a problem for any rafter worth their salt. They're pretty easy to avoid and provide plenty of clearance. Good lookin' out though.
