Posted: Mar 30, 2009 Post Subject: Access Problems to Middle Fork Cosumnes River

| We scouted the put in on 3/29/09 for the Middle Fork Cosumnes run (below Outingdale to Hwy 49 bridge). We had last done the run in April 2006. There is good news and bad news. The good news is that Starburst road to the put in is improved with gravel on the road clear down to the river. A couple of sections will likely still require a high clearance vehicle to get over. The bad news is that there is a locked gate across the road about 100 yards before the river, with no trespassing signs posted at several points along the road. A big no trespassing sign is currently at the put in and on a tree in the river.
Anybody have any run ins with the current owner of this property? Is he/she sympathetic with river runners? Is there any better way to access the put-in without trespassing?
